MALE VOICE: From KPRC, you're watching Local 2 News at 11:30.
COURTNEY ZAVALA: Welcome back. I'm Courtney Zavala in for Lauren Freeman [phonetic].
OWEN CONFLENTI: Good morning to you. I'm Owen Conflenti. This is new at 11:30. Several Katy [phonetic] cheerleaders spent their morning in a courthouse downtown.
COURTNEY ZAVALA: Well, the members of the Morton Ranch High School cheer squad are facing serious charges, accused of hazing some of their own.
LISA BALDWIN: Today, all seven of those varsity cheerleaders appeared here at the courthouse. They came here with their parents, with their attorneys. They're charged with misdemeanor criminal hazing. Today, their cases were reset. They never had a chance to face a judge. The judge in the case is out sick. Now the parents of the JV cheerleaders have gone on the record saying what these varsity cheerleaders did put their daughters in danger. And though no physical injuries were reported, this morning, one defense attorney said that the girls are just looking forward to getting this case behind them.
JED SILVERMAN: You know, I think that it's just very unfortunate for anybody to have to deal with something like this during the holidays. Fortunately for Hayley [phonetic] that she has a good family that's behind her 120 percent. And we just hope to get this matter resolved as soon as possible so Hayley can get on with her education. She's an excellent student and really has some excellent goals in her life. And she just wants to move forward.
